HOT DOG, General Sherman!

New York, New York

On the way from the parking lot to The Armory for the AIPAD show. I found the displays a bit more interesting than usual yesterday. There were some changes in the dealers' orientation, I thought. For one thing, there was the usual plethora of vintage old stuff—how many AA "Moonrises" can you find?—but a lot more work from the 1960s-70s era. Some booths looked like living embodiments, in real prints, of the photo magazines I grew up with. There also seemed to be a welcome cut back in the number of ugly gargantuan over-enlarged prints of crushingly dull subjects. They were still there, but far fewer in number than the past couple shows. Maybe that fad is trending down.
