Mission Tiki Drive-in Theater

Montclair, California

Early morning last June, with thick greater Los Angeles haze and smog in the air.

Carl, I have really enjoyed seeing your theater work the past couple of weeks.

I am curious as to how you see the 7x17 work fitting into the overall project. It is a size that doesn't seem particularly well-suited for a book. Will exhibition prints of the 7x17 be contact prints?

At any rate, I would love to see prints. Maybe an exhibition somewhere here in VA, or perhaps Washington DC?

Edd,

It's true that 717 is problematic for a book, but I just love the format. It's incredibly suited to this subject. I can't not make the picture because of that obstacle. In a book it would either be too small, or cross the gutter. But in an exhibition they will soar. Could be contact prints in platinum, could be enormous 50" digital prints from scans.

I'm exploring how to move this forward. I have articles coming out later in the year on several continents (authored by me or based on interviews—that's the Australian one) and some possible web exposure that is now "in meetings."
