Those yellow lines in the second one really sing for me... but specifically, because of the presence of those bits of blue. Cover them over, and that very particular visual response disappears.

A little like moving to a diminished chord in music, where just one changed note may "sour" or "sweeten" the entire sound [to mix metaphors even further- grin], even though the other notes remain unaltered.

I love how unexpectedly, perfectly everyday colour can behave.

Thanks Richard. It's interesting how the heavy light under a deeply overcast or stormy sky fosters these color "chords." Sunlight or open shade under a blue sky doesn't work nearly as well.
