Overpass

Thomaston, Connecticut

For the most part, clear sunlight is my least favorite shooting condition. It's not a technical issue—negative films have always been able to handle full sun and shade pictures with ease, and recent sensors have no trouble with it. I just don't like the way most things look in strong sunlight. The exception? Large structures, like this overpass, simple forms that are clearly delineated by the strong light. I shot a lot of my drive-in theater project in full sunlight for the same reason.
